YAY! 1st challenge completed. And I bet you didn't see an evening gown coming 8D!
Name of Topic: Word it Out Fabric(s): Silk chiffon, glass beads Color Scheme: Peach and Cream Model: the fabulous Adrianna Your Favorite Word: Ataraxia Description: When I first got the challenge, there were a huge flood of words that came to mind from Patronizing, to Stoic. I didn't really figure out what word I wanted to do until one of my friends suggested it to me. And to be perfectly honest, I love it.
at·a·rax·i·a /ˌætəˈræksiə/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[at-uh-rak-see-uh] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation noun a state of freedom from emotional disturbance and anxiety; tranquility.
Immediately I thought of a nice flowing and soft colored dress with intricate beading for the bust. All these things together make me think of Angels, or birds, or goddess, which are all beings of some sort that have never ending freedom. It also made me think a bit about Art Nouveau, which always seems to have this complete tranquility to it. I mostly imagined the Art Nouveau to be tied into the bead work. Mimicking the kind of ornate borders you often see on Art Nouveau pieces. The upper part of the sleeves are supposed to be loose, somewhat puffy and free flowing, and are supposed to form the tighter bottom half of the sleeve. So here's my little goddess, Ataraxia, who, surprisingly enough, isn't already a goddess D: Go figure.
Woah, awesome word choice there. I wish the beading on the bust was a little clearer, but I really like the subtle pleating. I imagine it moves so fluidly! *u*
Yeah @_@ I tried hard to try and get the kind of design I wanted, but when it shrunk down, it all went bye-bye. Probably because the actual size was about 3000 something. ... ahah.
I really like the flow of this design. I'm not generally a big fan of pink because it can be such a cloying color, but this is just lovely, like the inside of a seashell.
